What an invoice in the United Kingdom shows.

  • A unique number that follows on from the last
  • The time of supply, and the date it is issued if different
  • Your name, address and VAT registration number
  • Your customer’s name and address
  • A description of each item, its quantity, its price before VAT and its VAT rate
  • The total before VAT, any discount, and the total VAT
  • Under the domestic reverse charge, that it applies and the VAT your customer accounts for

For insulation.

  • Care homes, student halls and self-catering holiday lets count as residential for the zero rate. Hotels, inns and hospitals do not.
  • The zero rate covers homes and buildings used solely for a relevant charitable purpose. Insulating a shop or an office is 20%.
