What an invoice in the United Kingdom shows.
- A unique number that follows on from the last
- The time of supply, and the date it is issued if different
- Your name, address and VAT registration number
- Your customer’s name and address
- A description of each item, its quantity, its price before VAT and its VAT rate
- The total before VAT, any discount, and the total VAT
- Under the domestic reverse charge, that it applies and the VAT your customer accounts for
For gas installation and servicing.
- Gas servicing, repairs and boiler swaps for a householder are usually at 20%. A gas boiler is not an energy-saving material under VAT Notice 708/6.
- In the UK, a landlord’s gas safety check is due within 12 months of the last. Where the landlord has a Billing address, an invoice from the office for the job also prints the let property’s address.
- In Great Britain, a landlord’s gas safety check done in the two months before it is due counts as done on the due date (Gas Safety Regulations 1998, reg 36A).
