For white goods engineers in the UK

The call-out, the part and the return visit.

Across the UK, ecodesign rules have a washing machine’s maker offer professional repairers its spare parts for ten years after the model’s last unit goes on the market.

Built around the work.

Waiting for the part, then back.

A visit that ends as A return is needed can pause the job with Waiting for set to Parts. The job’s card on the Board shows Waiting for parts until the return is booked. On site at the return resumes the job.

Two visits, one repair, one call-out.

The diagnosis and the fitting are two visits on one job. A call-out line priced on the kind of work goes on the job once, when the job opens without a quote. Booking the return adds no second call-out.

Each machine by make, model and serial.

Add an appliance keeps a machine at the customer’s address with its make, model and serial number. Its kind is typed in What it is, so a tumble dryer is kept as one. Typing a serial already on file flags the match.

Under warranty, or chargeable.

A machine shows Under warranty until the date in Warranty runs to, then Warranty expired. Three weeks before cover ends, your customer is emailed that a repair after that day is chargeable.

The parts fitted, machine by machine.

A part added with Add a part can be Fitted to one of the site’s appliances. That machine’s own page then lists the part under Parts fitted, and the job under Jobs on it.

The fault, as the customer put it.

The fault the customer reports, such as an error code, goes in What is wrong on the New job sheet. The fault’s first line names the job on Jobs. The work cannot be finished until What was done is written too.

Questions, answered.

Can I find a machine by its serial number?
Yes. Search appliances on the Appliances page finds a machine from the start of its serial number, with spaces and dashes ignored. It also searches make and model, the customer’s name, the first line of the address and the postcode.
Can I see when a part on order is due in?
On the bigger plans, yes. Raise an order on a job opens a purchase order for it, with an Expected date. A job paused for Parts names each of its orders still to come, with that date.
Can it look up a part by the machine’s model number?
No. Nothing looks up a part by model number, and nothing connects to a parts supplier. A part is picked From the price book you keep, or typed in with its own price.
Does it remind customers to service a washing machine?
No. A washing machine, dishwasher, oven or fridge comes with no service date, so no service email goes out for one. The warranty email still goes while Tell a customer a warranty is ending is on.
