For electricians in the UK

Every circuit tested, every fail ready to quote.

In England, a private landlord must have every electrical installation in a let home inspected and tested by a qualified person at least every five years.

Set up the day you sign up.

Tick electrical and all of this is ready.

  • NICEIC or NAPIT: consumer unit replacement, periodic inspection and testing and rewire

Book someone onto this work with Book a visit, on the board or on the New job sheet, and it checks your business holds it.

Built around the work.

Inspection sheets you build.

A Reading has a Unit and can have limits. Given a pass or fail set as its Answers, a reading outside its limits is a fail. A section asked As rows the engineer adds takes a row for each circuit.

Consumer units and last time’s readings.

A Consumer unit is kept at its address with its ways and main switch. A sheet started on one shows the figures from the unit’s last signed sheet of that kind. Circuit rows match by name, so each shows its own figures.

Findings, quoted.

A finding is filed against the address as Dangerous, Major, Minor or Advisory. Administrators are told about a dangerous one. Quote them on Findings turns the ones ticked into one draft quote to price.

Meters and their calibration dates.

Your meters sit under Test instruments, each with the Calibration due date that administrators are warned of thirty days ahead. A Test instrument question records the meter picked and that date.

Two certificates for notifiable work.

In England and Wales, NICEIC or NAPIT sends the householder a Building Regulations compliance certificate for work you notify. Add a certificate records its number. Your installation certificate is a sheet you build.

A rewire is CIS work. One circuit is not.

HMRC counts a complete rewire as installing a lighting and power system, inside CIS. Rewiring one faulty circuit is a repair, and wiring in extra sockets an extension, both outside CIS on their own.

Questions, answered.

Does it produce an EICR?
No. There is no EICR template. A sheet you build is given a verdict from its findings when it is signed. Each signed sheet has its own number, led by the Letters before the number you set.
Does it notify Part P work to building control?
No. Nothing is filed with a scheme or with building control. A sheet can name NICEIC or NAPIT as its Register recorded at sign-off. Signing it records the numbers the firm and the signer hold under that register. When the sheet starts, a question on it can be Filled in from the firm’s number.
Does it look up NICEIC or NAPIT registration?
No. Registrations are kept as you record them, for each person and for the firm, with a number and expiry date. Administrators are warned thirty days before one lapses. Booking someone not certified for the work can be set to Don’t check, Warn and allow or Refuse the booking.
Can it remind landlords when a periodic inspection is due?
No. Nothing is sent when a let home’s next inspection falls due, because a consumer unit carries no service date in the office.
Does the job sheet ask whether isolation was proved?
Yes. The job sheet every firm starts with asks whether isolation was proved before work started, answered pass, fail or N/A. A fail needs a note and a photo, and becomes a Major finding when the sheet is signed.
