A visit’s Start can be typed for any hour. A kind of work you add for nights can be Billed as Time and materials with a call-out line. A job of that kind opened without a quote bills that line, the hours and parts.
Who you let in, on record.
A sheet you build for lockouts can record the ID you were shown and take the customer’s Signature. Signing it off names the locksmith in Who signed it.
Keys and locks over the counter.
A cylinder or a set of keys sold over the counter is a New invoice on Money, with No premises already chosen. Each line states its own VAT, starting at Separate, standard rate. Nothing goes on the jobs board.
Burglary repairs, photographed.
Photographs of a forced door can be filed on the visit as Before the work, and those of the repair as After the work. Completing the job produces its job report, with the photographs in that order and no prices.
BS 8621 for a way out without a key.
A BS 8621 lock needs no key to open from inside, so nobody needs one to escape. The MLA says it is usually fitted in rented homes, blocks of flats and houses in multiple occupation.
Questions, answered.
- Can it keep my MLA approval on record?
- No. MLA approval is not among the registrations the office records, and nothing is checked with the MLA.
- Can a customer be reminded when their safe is due a service?
- No. Once a kind of work has Done on an appliance ticked, Add an appliance is shown under each of the customer’s addresses. A safe can be added there with its Make, Model and Serial number. The safe is given no service date, so no service reminder is sent.
- Can a lockout be paid for at the door?
- Yes. A payment on your own card machine is recorded with Record a payment as Card, and the customer is emailed a receipt. With Issue invoices through Stripe on, the invoice email carries a card payment link. With Send by text as well as email on, the link is also texted to the customer’s mobile. A payment made through the link is recorded for you.
- Does it show which locksmith went to each lockout?
- Yes. No job reaches Work finished until a visit records who did the work. The job report lists each visit with its day, the person on it and how it ended.
- Is a lock change for a builder reverse charged?
- No. HMRC puts fitting locks on their own, and replacing them new for old, outside CIS, and the reverse charge reaches only CIS work. The lock change, lockout and lock repair kinds of work have Construction work unticked, so they are never reverse charged and no CIS is recorded on them, for a Principal contractor too.
