Built around the work.

A feature wall, priced as an extra.

A feature wall in a second colour can be an Optional extra on the quote. The customer’s page shows it apart, with its own price, and not in the total.

Exterior work that moves with the weather.

Rain stops exterior painting. When a visit moves to a dry day, the occupier, or else your customer, is emailed again, and the calendar file replaces the old day. With Send by text as well as email on, a text goes too.

Redecorating an empty home at 5%.

Redecorating a home nobody has lived in for the two years before the work starts is 5%, VAT Notice 708 says. A quote or invoice line can be Separate, reduced rate for that work.

Questions, answered.

Are doors stripped or polished in my workshop under CIS?
Not on their own. HMRC puts painting and decorating a building inside CIS, but work on doors sent to your workshop is outside it, unless the same contract has you take them off or rehang them.
Can I keep photos of the prep before the paint goes on?
Yes. On a job’s Photographs tab, each photo is filed against one of the job’s visits, chosen under Where it goes. Under When they were taken, prep photos can be marked Before the work, and the tab groups photos under those marks. A Caption can name the room or the wall.
Does it hold a paint maker’s colour chart?
No. It holds no colour charts. A paint you use can be a part in your price book, with its Code, the supplier it is Bought from and its Cost, ex VAT.
