For plasterers in the UK

Quote the square metres. Book every coat.

Plastering is mostly labour. The plaster, beads and board are usually the smaller part of the price.

Set up the day you sign up.

Tick plastering and all of this is ready.

Built around the work.

Priced by the square metre.

Skim by the square metre, angle bead by the metre and a patch repair at a set price go on one quote. A line’s Quantity takes decimals, so 38.5 square metres of skimming is one line at its rate.

Sand and cement render, coat by coat.

The scratch coat cures before the float coat goes on, so each coat is a visit. A visit that ends at Leave site needing a return can open the next coat’s booking, with the same plasterer in Who is going.

Making good is CIS work.

HMRC counts making good a building as a repair inside CIS, even after a repair to its wiring or pipes that is outside it. Plastering, rendering and screeding for a builder are CIS work too.

New-build plastering at zero.

Plastering a new home before it is finished is zero rated, a subcontractor’s work included. Work on existing homes is normally 20%. When every line is Zero rated, a quote or invoice is not reverse charged.

Questions, answered.

Can I bill a builder for the time worked instead of a price?
Yes, by the hour. Plastering Billed as Time and materials is invoiced on the hours and materials recorded, where its job was opened without a quote. Leave site can add each visit’s hours.
Does it know how long screed or render takes to dry?
No. It holds no drying or curing times. The visit for the next coat is on the day you book it for.
Can it keep count of the plaster and board in stock?
Yes, for a part in your price book set to Keep a stock balance. What a job uses comes off the count, and Correct the count sets it to what was Counted.
