Service dates that roll on.

  • Oil boiler: annual service

Sign off a sheet against the appliance and its next date moves on. Three weeks before it, your customer is emailed about that appliance.

Built around the work.

The boiler’s plate, on file.

An Oil boiler has details of its own: type, where it is, output, burner and nozzle. With a Warranty runs to date set, the customer is emailed three weeks before the cover ends.

A service record from the start.

Each firm gets one. It fills in make, model and serial from the boiler and asks for the filter, seals and gaskets, CO/CO2 ratio, meter used and a signature on site. Smoke number and pump pressure can be added to it.

A boiler swap keeps the old record.

An old boiler marked Replaced stays listed at the address, with every sheet signed against it. Its service and warranty emails stop. The new one is added as an appliance of its own.

An oil tank sold alone is 23%.

Sold without fitting, an oil tank is 23% under Revenue’s own entry for tanks. A tank supplied and fitted is 13.5%, subject to the two-thirds rule.

Questions, answered.

Can I record the oil tank as well as the boiler?
Yes. What it is saves any words, so an oil tank can sit at the same address as the boiler. The tank keeps its own make, model and serial, and its Installed and Warranty runs to dates. Its warranty email goes out as the boiler’s does. Only the boiler owes a yearly service.
Does a VAT-registered business get a reverse-charge invoice?
Not for being VAT-registered. A shop or a farm having its boiler serviced in the Republic is charged VAT as normal. There, the reverse charge applies only to a customer whose type is Principal contractor, and only for construction work. The oil boiler service has Construction work unticked, so it is charged VAT as normal for them too. Such a customer needs a VAT number on file.
Does it keep my OFTEC registration, or fill in OFTEC forms?
It keeps the registration, not the forms. Each technician’s OFTEC number and the day it runs out go under Registrations on their page in People. In Ireland, booking the oil work set up at signup does not check for OFTEC. Any sheet you build takes your own questions, readings, units and limits.
